Archived VersionThe Degree Regulations and Programmes of Study has been formulated as a dynamic online publication in order to provide the most up to date information possible. Scottish History Dissertation (U01469)? Credit Points : 40 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : HCA-4-DSCH This module is intended to build on the skills developed in the Long Essay in Scottish History which is undertaken in third year. Students select a topic with the approval of the Scottish History subject area and work under the supervision of a member of staff to produce a 12,000 word dissertation. The dissertation will be largely based on primary source material. Entry Requirements? This course is not available to visting students. ? Pre-requisites : A pass in a third level historical course or equivalent. The intended learning outcomes are:
- Independent research skills - Identification of primary source material sifting, reading and analysis of primary sources - Relating research in primary sources to relevant secondary literature - The production of coherent analytical text based on independent primary research and secondary reading.
