Central and Eastern Europe since 1945 (U01603)

? Credit Points : 20  ? SCQF Level : 10  ? Acronym : HCA-3-CEE

This option studies the development of central and eastern Europe after the Second World War. The region to be studied comprises in particular: the German Democratic Republic, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Poland and Yugoslavia. Other countries - Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Finland - also figure, but less prominently. The course ends with the revolutions of 1989, the unification of Germany in 1990, the 'velvet divorce' in Czechoslovakia in 1993 and the breakup of Yugoslavia. General students require a pass in European History 1 or its equivalent.
