Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

The aim of a dissertation is to develop and demonstrate analytical and organisational skills in a particular area, this giving students an insight into the world of research and scholarship. A dissertation does not necessarily aim at exhaustiveness within its field or topic, not does it need to incorporate original research, although both elements (ie exhaustiveness and originality) may be apparent in the completed dissertation.
