Additional Class Information : Taught in 2 tutorial groups in Weeks 2-5 and 7-10. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Students will develop their listening skills through the aural analysis of a wide range of musical pieces.
- Students will acquire a broad knowledge of various elements of musical expression, such as pitch, rhythm, timbre, texture and structure. - Students will understand the basic principles of spatial music and graphic notation. - Students will be able to aurally recognise various more complex harmonic progressions. - Students will be capable of accurately transcribing more complex melodic (including atonal) and four-part harmonic dictations. Assessment Information
One class examination and one degree examination (50% each).
