- Students will have become familiar with the techniques and approaches used in transcribing and editing music.

- They will have learned how to study and transcribe archival documents.

- They will have encountered and worked with some of the methodologies and the new musicology of the late 20th century.

- Students will be prepared to research and write an undergraduate dissertation on a musical topic.
