These may include: the transcription and editing of music from different historical periods; the researching and transcription of archival documents; an introduction to critical musicology. ? Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Students will have become familiar with the techniques and approaches used in transcribing and editing music.
- They will have learned how to study and transcribe archival documents. - They will have encountered and worked with some of the methodologies and the new musicology of the late 20th century. - Students will be prepared to research and write an undergraduate dissertation on a musical topic. One coursework essay c.4,000 words (50%), one mark for course- and class-work (10%), and one 2-hour examination (40%).
