Acronym : LLC-3-U01392 This course aims to examine the importance of stories and myths in shaping 'femininity', and to explore the cultural significance of rewriting stories and positing new narratives within the feminist movement. Accordingly, the course is divided into two sections; the first, 'Rewriting the Past', and the second, 'Constructing the Future'. Entry Requirements? An understanding of the various ways in which femininity is constructed through literature and film. An understanding of the assumption that literature and film do not only 'reflect' social norms and values but can also play a role in '(re)producing' them. An ability to understand and to question the degree to which the course texts can be defined as 'feminist'.
