State and Society in Fascist Italy (Ordinary) (U03169)

This course looks at the political and social history of Fascist Italy, one of the most fascinating and turbulent periods of modern Italian history which has given rise to a rich, interesting and often highly politicised historiography.

The course concentrates in particular on:
- the causes of the rise of fascism;
- social change during the period of the regime;
- political mobilisation, the quest for consensus and the limits to consensus;
- government policy in a number of areas including labour relations, the church, foreign affairs, gender, race and demography

Entry Requirements

? Pre-requisites : Entrance to Italian Three (Ordinary). This course is open to Ordinary Students only.

? Co-requisites : This course is normally taken in conjunction with Italian 3 Language (U02164)
