Prosody (Honours) (U03197)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 10 ? Acronym : PPL-3-PROS-LS This course is an introduction to structural and phonetic aspects of prosody. Topics will include theories of prosodic constituent and prominence structure, its phonetic realisation, typological variation in prosodic systems, intonation, and rhythm. Entry Requirements? Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will learn:
- how prosody is defined; - current theories of prosodic structure, and ways to evaluate them; - acoustic and articulatory correlates of prosodic structure; - how to interpret, evaluate, and summarise experimental findings in the literature; - relevant techniques involved in identifying and measuring correlates of prosodic structure.
