An introduction to the MIDI standard and its applications in sequencing and real-time control of sound synthesis and processing. Classes will include technical and contextual topics.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

Understand the MIDI protocol.

Understand various MIDI devices, in particular hardware for synthesis and sampling.

Operate a sequencing application with technical and aesthetic success.
