- The principal sources of evidence that can be used to reconstruct those elements of the human past covered in the course - The difficulties involved in interpreting that evidence, and the major areas of controversy - A critical awareness of how archaeological perceptions and approaches to research have historically influenced interpretations of the evidence. Essay, practical exercises, tutorial presentation. 1 essay = 20%, 1 tutorial paper = 20%, practical exercises = 20%, one 2 hour degree exam paper = 40%.
