Year Abroad Work for Degree in Chinese and History (U03427)

? Credit Points : 40  ? SCQF Level : 10  ? Acronym : HCA-3-AbroadC&H

During their third year abroad while studying for this combined degree, students carry out guided reading under the supervision of a member of the School of History and Classics, and write an essay on a historical theme preferably related to the country whose language they are studying. The essays are handed in on the student's return at the beginning of Year 4.

? Pre-requisites : A pass in second level history

? Additional Class Information : As indicated below the Year Abroad Work is based on guided reading. Supervisors and students have contact via e-mail and telephone to discuss the various stages of the essay.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes

These are in line with the general aims of the School of History and Classics.

Assessment Information

The essay is the sole component of assessment. Assessment is carried over to the fourth year in line with the standard practice for modern language degree programmes.
