Acronym : DIV-3-DIV-3-B&L The aim of the course is to explore the cross-over areas of interest in the fields of biblical and literary studies. Issues arising from a consideration of the Bible in literature and of reading the Bible as literature will be discussed Entry Requirements? Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, students will have a detailed knowledge of selected literary and biblical texts and of critical ways these texts have been read. They will be aware of current issues in biblical studies regarding the hermeneutics of reading the Bible as literature. They will be able to reflect critically on the influence of the Bible in the field of English and Scottish Literature.
Assessment Information
one course essay of 2,500 words counting for 25%, and a take-away exam essay of 3,000 words counting for 75%.
