God in Philosophy: Plato to Hume (U03909)? Credit Points : 20 ? SCQF Level : 8 ? Acronym : DIV-2-ST2A An introduction to philosophical theology and some issues in the philosophy of religion, especially the question of how to inquire into ‘God’ philosophically. Lectures, seminars and set texts in this course treat a range of Christian and Jewish philosophers from Plato to the Enlightenment. Entry Requirements? Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will (1) demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the main texts set for tutorials; (2) rehearse principal arguments on the main themes; (3) identify points of agreement and disagreement between philosophers and between their interpreters; (4) identify more general problems in the philosophical treatment of questions about God.
