Scandinavian Historical and Cultural Topics 2 (VS1) (U04020)? Credit Points : 10 ? SCQF Level : 8 ? Acronym : LLC-2-U04020 A wide-ranging survey of Scandinavian history and culture from the Viking Age to the nineteenth century. At the end of the course the student will have an understanding of the individuality of the Scandinavian nations and their shared heritage. No language knowledge is involved and all texts will be dealt with in translation. Entry Requirements? This course is only available to part year visiting students. Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should have:
- gained an appreciation of some main chronological and thematic issues in Scandinavian history and culture - developed their ability to engage critically with primary and secondary sources - developed their ability to produce coherent analytical text - understood the importance of working in a tutorial group, including preparation and contribution. Two essays - one of 1600 words worth 40% and one of 2000 words worth 60%.
