Course description |
This module examines selected historical and contemporary developments in architectural design theory from a critical perspective. By situating their emergence within larger intellectual currents, it demonstrates architectural design theory&©s relationship with other areas of culture and provides students with an expanded interpretive framework through which to understand architectural production. The sequence of lectures around which the module is structured is thematically organised, taking up by turn theories of power, the philosophy of technology, the politics of domination, the production of space, history as disjunction, gender issues, discourses of the unconscious, cyberspace, theories of interpretation,
and deconstruction.
