Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Students should be able to read and write alphabetic cuneiform, and to appreciate the importance of precise readings of damaged source-materials. They should learn to recognize the canons of Ugaritic prosody, and the cultural importance of the literary texts studied.
- to introduce a further Semitic language, with its own rich literary repertoire, which is also useful for the historical study of the development of the biblical languages.
