It will examine a ‘social practice’ model of literacies through a historically informed and comparative examination of alternative theoretical perspectives on literacy and numeracy. This will include an exploration of what a 'social practices model' means and an assessment of its strengths, limitations and implications for teaching adult literacy and numeracy.
