		| Course description | The course aims by seminar and workshop to introduce students to theoretical and practical issues involved in the composition of prose fiction.   Issues to be addressed include: point of view, character and voice, structure and plot. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes 
    
		| Students who complete the course successfully will attain a broadened awareness of stylistic possibilities in prose fiction. By practice they will develop compositional skills and critical self-assessment in a way that complements more general English studies, and be introduced to the possibilities of publishing their work. |

		| Numbers are limited, with priority given to students taking degrees involving English or Scottish Literature and Visiting Students placed by the Admissions Office.
