| Course description |
This course is designed to lead on from Persian 1 and provides a further development of linguistic skills in the modern language. Grammatical structures and Persian idioms are studied at a higher level and oral skills are further developed. Selected texts in Modern Persian are studied and are supplemented by an introduction to the modern literature and culture of Iran. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
| The student is expected to consolidate the skills learned in Persian 1, further developing linguistic skills in the modern language, studying grammatical structures and idioms at a higher level and further developing oral skills. The student is expected to become acquainted with some elements of modern literature and culture through the use of selected texts. |
Assessment Information
Regular written exercises and occasional class tests will be set and marked (15% of final mark); 1 three-hour interim examination plus oral examination at end of first semester (25% of final mark); 1 three-hour examination plus oral examination at end of second semester (60% of final mark).
