Course description |
A course which develops the fundamental principles of Scottish property law taught in the Property Law 2 course, focussing in particular on subordinate real rights (lease, security, servitude, real burden) and land regulation and use. |

Property Law Ordinary 1 U02666 (as that course is not examined until the May diet, a pass is not required). All students taking this course should also have taken Legal Reasoning and Legal System U02831, although a pass in that course is not essential, provided that it is being retaken.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course students should have acquired:
(a) a knowledge and understanding of the principles of the law of property applicable to subordinate real rights and land regulation and use;
(b) an appreciation of the practical application of these principles;
(c) an ability to apply the intellectual skills developed in earlier study in the Law School in the acquisition of knowledge and in the use and interpretation of primary sources, especially statutes;
(d) an ability to use problem solving and diagnostic techniques in the application of legal principles to concrete facts;
(e) greater library and IT skills in relation to the acquisition of legal knowledge; and
(f) deepened skills previously learned in earlier study in the Law School and elsewhere, including oral and written communication skills; research skills and general skills relating to the organisation of work and time.
