Course description The course is a continuation of the course in first year and is directed towards helping the student acquire the skills, attributes and related knowledge necessary to practice medicine. It will include elements of critical appraisal and statistics. The course includes six system-based modules, each of five weeks duration, and attendance for clinical skills experience at teaching health centres in Edinburgh. The course will co-ordinate with the clinical experience of Year 1 and prepare the student for further clinical skills teaching in Year 3 and thereafter.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes act as a definition of the core curriculum, provide "signposts" to direct students in their learning, and provide a clear and rational basis for assessment. Students should be able to demonstrate appropriate diagnostic skills, therapeutic skills, practical skills, knowledge and attitudes.
