The study of a series of set works from the 12th to the 20th centuries covering historical and cultural contexts, analytical approaches and issues of performance. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will:
- gain an understanding of the work of some of the major composers of the past;
- learn to relate musical works to broader contexts of society, of technologies and of the history of ideas;
- address issues of transmission, representation, cultural norms and performance practice. |
