Course description This course provides the student with the required three month pre-registration clinical workplace experience that is required in order to complete the Diploma/Masters degree.

This workplace experience is taken within the workplace environment and is supervised by Honorary University of Edinburgh clinical tutors.
Entry Requirements
Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Introduction to Clinical Practice 1 (PAMA11019) AND Introduction to Clinical Practice 2 (PAMA11020) AND Introduction to Anaesthesia (PAMA11021) AND Physics in Anaesthesia (PAMA11022) AND The Anaesthesia Machine and Monitoring (PAMA11023) AND The Heart and Circulation (PAMA11024) AND The Airways and Lungs (PAMA11025) AND The Kidneys, Liver, Endocrine System and Blood (PAMA11026) AND The Brain and the Nervous System (PAMA11027) AND Clinical History and Examination (PAMA11028) AND Management of Life-Threatening Emergencies (PAMA11029) AND Advanced Practice (PAMA11030)

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes for this programme are designed to encompass the knowledge, skills and attitude that practitioners must achieve to become physician's assistants-anaesthesia. After completing the twelve required courses of the programme, the pre-registration clinical workplace experience provides the student with an opportunity to consolidate their theoretical and clinical experience, to clearly understand the roles and professional expectations that will be required of a qualified physicians assistant-anaesthesia and allows for further personal and professional development.
Assessment Information
There is no formal assessment component of this course. Students must gain a satisfactory 'pass' to gain credit for this course.
