To allow students an opportunity to explore: the physicality, cultural specificity and temporality of objects; the role of material culture in the construction of human groups; the importance of objects in the maintenance of personal, social and cultural identity and to understand that objects are also an outcome of this process. To understand that artefacts not only express social relations but also that they act to establish such relationships.
