Course description The course aims to develop the student&Šs skills in a range of computational methods considered essential for researchers in the animal sciences in the 21st century. These will include use of the R packages for statistical analysis and data manipulation, population and quantitative genetics, epidemiology and advanced bioinformatics, analysis of genome-wide data sets.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
At the completion of this course, the candidate should be experiences in the range of computational techniques and be able to present this material in an appropriate format.

The candidate should:
&ˇ be very familiar with the use of R packages;
&ˇ understand the use of different analysis techniques for a range of data types;
&ˇ be familiar with the range of electronic data sources relevant to animal biosciences;
&ˇ be experienced in the methods and outcomes of epidemiology, population genetics and quantitative genetics;
&ˇ be able to present the material clearly in scientific format;
&ˇ assess the relevance of these computational methodologies to industry.
