Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To provide a knowledge of the basic management disciplines of Ethics, Human Resource Management, Marketing, and Operations Management.
To allow the student to discuss with professionals in those fields in a well-informed manner.
To enable the student to question professionals in those fields perceptively, and to see through jargon-filled but vacuous argument from those professionals.
To provide a base for further study in those fields as required in the Option courses.
To provide knowledge of key business competencies relating to "soft skills", key models relating to the competencies of teamworking, leadership and communication and application of industry utilised diagnostic techniques

Assessment Information
Each component will include examinations appropriate to it: Business Ethics: a group project (100%). Organisation Studies: a 2 hour examination in Week 13 of the Semester (100%). Marketing: a 2 hour examination in Week 13 of the Semester (100%), Operations Management: a group report (50%) and an individual short case study in the 2 hour examination (50%), Professional and Personal Development: 3,000 word report. |
