Course description An introduction to Danish, Norwegian and Swedish and their history. Some theoretical and proactical problems of translation.

Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: ( Danish 1A (ELCS08001) OR Danish 1B (ELCS08002) OR Norwegian 1A (ELCS08003) OR Norwegian 1B (ELCS08004) OR Swedish 1A (ELCS08005) OR Swedish 1B (ELCS08006))

Pre-requisites Entry to any language course above introductory level is subject to a language test by the relevant subject area on arrival and at the discretion of the course organiser.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
An introduction to written and spoken Danish, Norwegian and Swedish and outlines of their historical development, with selected texts. The course also includes some theoretical and practical discussion of the problems of translation.
