Course description The theoretical concepts encountered in ?Leadership across different health care contexts: Achieving your potential' (P02953) are explored and related to the research evidence. In this way, the Leadership stream becomes the foundation for evidence based practice.
To enable practitioners to apply a range of standard and specialised research or equivalent instruments and techniques of enquiry

Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed Research Methods (REDU11016) AND Leadership across different health care contexts: achieving your potential (NUST11045) AND Research Methods in Nursing and Health Care A (NUST11065) AND Research Methods in Nursing and Health Care B (NUST11066) AND Research Methods (AREA11020)

Additional information Each student will have a personal academic advisor. In addition fortnightly action learning classes will be held.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate the ability to set appropriate learning objectives in a creative manner
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate and justify their formulation of a research project
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research techniques applicable to their chosen area
- Plan and execute project of research, investigation or development
- Demonstrate originality or creativity in the application of knowledge, understanding and practices
- Demonstrate the ability to critically evaluate approaches to research and evaluation
- Critical awareness of current issues in the application of research in a particular setting
- Demonstrate the ability to critically appraise the evidence for practice.
Assessment Information
The student will be required to submit a learning contract and evidence that the contract has been fulfilled. The critical account presented must demonstrate both the ability to be reflective and reflexive, and demonstrate that the current evidence in relation to leadership research in nursing and health care is appraised.

The length should be 4,000-5,000 words. Equivalent alternative forms of assessment will be accepted.

Assessments will be marked according to School/College policy and made available for moderation by the External Examiner.
