Course description |
A comprehensive survey of theories of truth, including the correspondence and coherence theories, and pragmatism. The semantic conception of truth (Tarski), and more recent debates about deflationism. Other topics discussed may include relativism, debates about truth and meaning, and the semantic paradoxes. |

Pre-requisites |
Visiting students should have at least 3 Philosophy courses at grade B or above, and should have passed an introductory Logic course. Visiting students are recommeded to discuss enrolment for this course with the Course organiser. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
To develop further the philosophical skills, and to extend as well as deepen the philosophical knowledge, acquired in previous philosophy courses. |
Assessment Information
This course will be assessed by one short (approx. 1500 word) essay (35%) due roughly half way through the semester, and a final take-home exam (65%).
