  • Notes: For English Literature courses only *option* courses can be chosen

    Honours degrees must include at least 40 credits of dissertation work. Where this is taken in English Literature, a 20 credit unit towards the dissertation will be taken in third year, and a 20 credit completion unit in the fourth year. Where this is taken in Philosophy, students must take the Philosophy Dissertation Preparation Course in their 3rd years and then have two options in their 4th years: (i) to take two further option courses in philosophy and be examined on 5000 word essays for each course, or (ii) to register for the dissertation completion course and write one 8000 word essay on a topic to be arranged with the department. All students who take the dissertation in philosophy must complete the Philosophy Dissertation course in year 3.
