Course descriptionAn introductory course in neuroscience with an emphasis on pharmacological approaches that have furthered our understanding of the nervous system. The course material comprises: synaptic transmission, intracellular signalling mechanisms, the central nervous system, pain and inflammation and disorders of the nervous system resulting from altered receptor function or channelopathies.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Physiology 2 (BIME08005)
Co-requisites
Prohibited Combinations Students MUST NOT also be taking Chemical Pharmacology 2 (BIME08002)
Other requirements Where a student has taken Chemical Pharmacology 2 and then transfers to S0301 or S0201 then he/she must take Neuroscience with Pharmacology 2 before taking Pharmacology 3. In this situation the student cannot count both Chemical Pharmacology 2 and Neuroscience with Pharmacology 2 towards graduation.
