| Course description | Criminal justice policy has come to play an increasingly prominent role in UK election campaigns over recent years. This seminar-based course will tackle core issues in criminal justice policy, looking at how these key issues are framed, and how policy responses are developed. The course will have a strong comparative element. Developments in different parts of the UK and overseas will be explored using policy case studies and issue-based sessions to draw out similarities and differences in policy actors, processes and outcomes. As well as the countries covered in readings, international students will be encouraged to share readings and experiences from their home countries. The course will complement existing MSc level teaching in the School of Social and Political Science and in the School of Law.
