Year 2, Academic year 2011/12, Starting month: SeptemberIn year 2, students who intend to take courses from within PPLS for all four years of the programme, must take Mind, Matter and Language, Knowledge and Reality, Linguistics 2A & 2B and Psychology 2. Students who intend to take courses from PPLS and the Schools of Informatics and Mathematics have the choice of taking Mathematics for Informatics 1A & 2A, only if these were not taken in Year 1. Year 3, Academic year 2011/12, Starting month: SeptemberIn year 3, students must take Level 10 courses in three different subject areas with the aim of ensuring that, by the end of year 4, they have accrued a minimum of 40 credits of passes at Honours level in each of these three subjects. Exceptionally, in year 3, students who intend to take courses from PPLS and the Schools of Informatics and Mathematics may take Informatics and Mathematics courses at level 8 in order to gain the pre-requisites for further Honours level courses in Informatics. Where the dissertation is taken in Philosophy, students have two options: (i) to take two further option courses in philosophy and be examined on 5000 word essays for each course, or (ii) to register for the dissertation completion course and write one 8000 word essay on a topic to be arranged with the department. |
