Course descriptionThis course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.

This course will refine your understanding and application of the content, language, methods and production of a critically reflective body of work that draws upon the historical and contemporary references in current practice. Through self initiated study and a range of externally focused projects you will be encouraged to engage in a range of professional contexts. You will work more independently with critique and tutorial support.

Aims
1.To explore in depth the language and methods of your work in relation to your specialism.
2.To extend your understanding of particular processes and applications relevant to your work.
3.To develop a body of work that demonstrates your translation of the relationship between personal concerns and professional contexts.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Advanced Study in Visual Culture (ARTX09074) AND Visual Research 3 (ARTX09075) AND Presentation: Methods & Context 3 (ARTX09073)

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. You will be assessed against three Learning Outcomes and all are equally weighted:
Concepts: Critically review and consolidate the ideas and boundaries for further exploration.

2. Methods: Utilize appropriate methods, processes and materials to expand concepts and to explore the defining features of individual practice.
3. Outcomes: Realize appropriate solutions in the development of concepts and a critical understanding of the specialized practice.
Assessment Information
Assessment is formative at end of Semester 1 and summative at end if Semester 2.
Documented work- some of which will be installed (project space etc/ external exhibition project) Some of these images could be details/videos etc artworks.  These images should be on a memory stick and clearly labelled. Maximum images 20, Video maximum duration 10 min. Sound work maximum duration 10 min.
