Course description | This course in spoken and written French is designed for students who have completed the Elementary French Language (ELCF07005 or ELCF07006) course, or who have reached an equivalent standard. Students who have taken the Elementary course and who do not proceed to Intermediate the same session are encouraged to spend some time in a French-speaking country during the summer vacation preceding the Intermediate course.
This course is not suitable for students who have qualifications which would allow them to enter French 1B.
All students take all elements of assessment including the degree examination. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students are taken from their intermediate level to an advanced intermediate and are qualified at the end of the course to enter French 1B (ELCF08006). All skills are enhanced and the ability to work independently is encouraged and developed. |
Assessment Information
Coursework 50% (Regular coursework including class tests and oral assignments)
Degree exam 50% (A two-hour written paper)
All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination.
