Course descriptionIn the light of the need for high quality and safe care this course considers the organisational context in which professional nursing takes place. The course content focuses on the importance of teamwork and communication for effective care and addresses the use of protocols and standardised working practices which ensure safe practice. Record keeping, audit and the use of IT in health care are also looked at to consider the part which they play in achieving person-centred care and enhancing quality and safety.

Have acquired an understanding of record keeping, audit and the use of IT in health care and the part which they play in achieving person-centred care and in enhancing quality and safety
Assessment Information
An element of student choice is available and students can choose to be assessed summatively by either:
A course paper confined to within 4,000-4,500 words (100%)
OR
An examination of three hours consisting of three questions which must be answered from a choice of 6. (100%)
