Notes: Entry into honours requires (1) an *average* of 50% across both the mandatory Philosophy courses standardly taken in the second year, Mind, Matter and Language (MML) and Knowledge and Reality (K&R) achieved at the first attempt and (2) a minimum of 40% in each course (MML and K&R) achieved at the first attempt; also required, a pass at 50% or above at the first attempt in Scottish Literature 2.

Notes: A dissertation MUST be taken in Final Year in either Philosophy or Scottish Literature. Where the dissertation is taken in Philosophy, students can either do a single long 8000 word dissertation, or two 5000 word essays ( short dissertations). If the two 5000 word essays are selected students should choose two courses from Philosophy Honours Programme Collection, ROU_I_UTPHIECY4_10, as available.
