Aims of course
1 To introduce fundamental creative methods, techniques and approaches in response to art project briefs.
2 To encourage curiosity and a sense of risk taking.
3 To introduce the fundamental materials and processes associated with contemporary art practice.

Mode of delivery
Studio Based, Site Visit, Technical Exercises, Group Crit, Project, Tutorial.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed:
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Art 1: Visual Culture (ARTX07006) AND Professional Practice 1 (Art) (ARTX07005) AND Research 1 (Art) (ARTX07004)
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.
Additional Costs ECA students are required to pay for the cost of materials used throughout their programme of study.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
1. RESPOND: Demonstrate creative responses to project briefs.
2. DEVELOP: Demonstrate a range of fundamental skills, and knowledge of processes and materials, through art projects.

Additional Information
Academic description Introduce and expand issues within contemporary art studio practice.
Syllabus Mixture of one hour group seminars and studio critiques.
