Course descriptionAn exploration of religious life in Britain and Ireland during the "age of improvement", with emphasis on responses to early industrial society, efforts to reform and extend the established Churches, the growth of religious pluralism, the Oxford Movement and Disruption of the Church of Scotland, and the role of religion in shaping national identities on the "Celtic fringe".

Pre-requisites It is RECOMMENDED that students have passed History of Christianity as a World Religion 1A (ECHS08005) AND Popular Religion, Women and Witchcraft in Early Modern Europe (ECHS08002)
