Course description | This post-introductory course is intended for students who have successfully completed Introductory German (ELCG07001 or ELCG07005) or have reached an equivalent standard (Standard Grade/GCSE). It is not suitable for absolute beginners or students with knowledge of German at Highers/A-level or above.
All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination.
Intermediate German will run in both the first and second semester.

Semester 1: Tuesday and Thursday, 14:10-16:00, DHT 4.01
Semester 2:Students must attend pairs of classes choosing ONE of:
GROUP A: Monday & Thursday, 14:10-16:00
OR
GROUP B: Monday & Wednesday, 16:10-18:00
Please note: this course will not appear on students' personalised timetable. Group Sign-up sheets will be available on LEARN after the first class meeting. Groups have a limited quota, if a group reaches capacity, you will need to choose another.
The semester 1 first class meeting will be the first class of the first week in the normal teaching room at the normal teaching time.
The semester 2 first class meeting will be Monday 13th January at 17:10 in S.1, 7 George Square.

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Students will further develop reading, writing, listening and speaking skills in German. They will further develop knowledge of basic grammatical structures and a vocabulary of approximately 1000 high-frequency words and phrases. |
Assessment Information
Coursework 50% (In-class assessments and and homework excercises)
Degree exam 50% (A two-hour written paper)
All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination. |
Special Arrangements
This course is open to all students as a credit bearing course, or over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. DELC students may only take this course if it over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course.
