Course descriptionStudents are required to undertake this supervised internship in order to provide a practical introduction to the collections and the management of resources and collections, and the ways that they can be used for research. The students will work on a small research project, which will be supervised by both academic and archival and curatorial staff. The project will be chosen to reflect the interests, and ability, of the students and the needs and restrictions of the archival repository. Students may find it useful to maintain a record of their work - for example a visual diary using photographs - that can then be used in their reports in order to demonstrate the practical aspects of their projects. There are no scheduled hours but students are expected to spend the equivalent of 120 hours on the internship. The hours worked will be arranged in consultation with the archival staff.
