SummaryThe course responds in particular to the increasing need of future managers working in a globalized economy to acquire cross-cultural literacy and competence and to have an advanced understanding of cross-national management. Topics covered: influence of culture on the perceptions and practices of management; interplay between globalization and the need for responding to cross-cultural differences in management; cross-cultural communication; operation of international joint ventures, strategic alliances as well as mergers and acquisitions.

Pre-requisitesVisiting students should have at least 3 Business Studies/Management courses at grade B or above (or be predicted to obtain this). We will only consider University/College level courses.

To further develop students' understanding of:
- how important cross-cultural competence is for both an ethical and a successful management;
- how national culture influences the perceptions and practices of management;
- how globalization affects the need for responding to cross-cultural differences in management;
- how to communicate across cultural and national boundaries;
- how to co-operate in an international joint venture;
- how to co-ordinate an international strategic alliance;
- how to co-ordinate the integration process of international mergers & acquisitions.
