Course description | This course in spoken and written French is designed for students who have some knowledge of French (approximately Standard Grade/GCSE level) and who wish to extend it.
All students take all elements of assessment including the degree examination.
There is an identical course (Elementary French Language - ELCF07005) which runs in the first semester.
On successful completion of the course students will have the option of taking Intermediate French Language (ELCF07004), which follows on from Elementary French Language. |

Summary of Intended Learning Outcomes
Improved competence in the four main skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing French. This greater competence is intended to lead to greater confidence and to enhance the ability to learn independently. |

Coursework 50% (including class tests and oral assignments)
Degree exam 50% (A two-hour written paper)
All students take all elements of assessment, including the examination. |

This course is open to all students as a credit bearing course, or over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. DELC students may only take this course if it over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. |
