SummaryIndicative course content
To introduce a professional awareness and application to methods of making, developing and the presentation of studio work. To develop documentation and communication skills, establishing a CV and professional portfolio of documented work.

Aims of course
1 To establish appropriate presentation, communication and documentation skills in the production and presentation of sculpture, research, drawing and visual thinking.
2 To appropriately select and use a range of documentation processes to record and present studio practice.


Mode of delivery
Studio, Workshop, lectures, exhibitions, talks, events, crits, tutorials, presentations.
Course description Mixture of one-to-one group presentations and workshops.
Entry Requirements (not applicable to Visiting Students)
Pre-requisites Students MUST have passed: Professional Practice 1 (Art) (ARTX07005)
Co-requisites Students MUST also take: Studio 2 (Sculpture) (ARTX08016) AND Research, Drawing and Visual Thinking 2 (Sculpture) (ARTX08017) AND Art 2: Postmodernism and After (ARTX08025) AND Contemporary Art Practice (AREA08001)
Prohibited Combinations Other requirements This course is only available to ECA students on degree programmes belonging to the School of Art.

Direct Entry students to Year 2 must have Recognised Prior Learning equivalent to 120 credits.
Additional Costs ECA students are required to pay for the cost of materials used throughout their programme of study.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. PRESENTATION Demonstrate an awareness of professionalism in the making, exhibition and presentation of your work.
  2. DOCUMENTATION Apply a range of documentation and presentation processes and materials.
  3. PROFESSIONALISM Evidence an ability to work individually and collaboratively and develop a professional approach to the subject area.

Graduate Attributes and Skills Research, manage time, attend to visual material, assess and evaluate own and others work.
Study Abroad Erasmus and International Study Abroad in Year 3 may be applied for.
