SummaryStudents will explore the creative potential of three dimensional form, considering issues such as installation and site, the use of appropriate materials and scale. Students may make maquettes as part of the process of visualisation and research.

This course is only available to students on BA Combined Studies (School of Art).
Course description This Course builds on skills in three dimensional thinking and making learned at SCQF level 7. Students will be encouraged initially to utilise 'low end' materials and small scale maquette making, along with drawing and other forms of visualisation, to develop a project from initial idea to final artwork. Students may use digital technology to create virtual sculpture and installation proposals.

Students may choose to work with any sculptural process appropriate to their project and may attend practical workshops and classes as well as crits and tutorials to support their research.

  1. Display a considered approach to research as it underpins individual practice
  2. Demonstrate a competent level of material handling in response to three dimensional form and space
  3. Show competence and a considered approach to the selection and presentation of work for assessment at this level
