| Summary | This course is for post-beginners with some knowledge of Japanese or students who have successfully completed Foundation Japanese 2. It is not suitable for absolute beginners.
The examination will consist of a two-hour written paper.
This course is not available to native or near-native speakers of Japanese. If in doubt, contact the Course Organiser.
All students interested in the course should attend the first information meeting, after which the spaces will be allocated. Any students who are unsure whether the course is at a suitable level should contact the course organiser.
This course is open to all students as a credit bearing course, or over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. LLC students may only take this course if it is over and above their full credit load, as a non credit bearing course. Visiting Students may only take this course for credits.
Please note that auditing this course is not allowed. You must be enrolled as CE (Class and Assessment including centrally arranged exam).

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Students will further develop basic reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, to nearly Common European Framework of Reference for Languages level A1 (the lowest).
- Some additional basic frequently used kanji are also introduced, following on from those introduced in Foundation Japanese Language 2.
