Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. form a mature and critical understanding of an aspect of pre-modern Hindu history, philosophy, literature through the writing of a supervised dissertation.
  2. analyse and evaluate a range of primary sources relating to a topic of their choice relating to an aspect of pre-modern Hinduism and provide a critical assessment of scholarly discussion.
  3. develop skills in critically assessing pre-modern Hindu culture which they can transfer to the study of other religions and areas of cultural history.
  4. communicate their awareness of an aspect of pre-modern Hinduism as a unique cultural endeavour which at the same time overlap with other religions and cultures.
  5. develop skills based on their independent writing project and attain levels of articulacy and coherence in discussion with the dissertation supervisor appropriate to the level of study.
