Learning Outcomes
On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. form a specialised and critical understanding of an aspect of ancient Indian history, philosophy, literature, religion etc.
  2. analyse and evaluate a range of Sanskrit primary sources relating to a topic of their choice and provide a critical assessment of scholarly discussion.
  3. develop skills in critically evaluating an aspect of Sanskrit language and literature or pre-modern Indian religion which they can transfer to the study of other religions and areas of cultural history.
  4. communicate their awareness of an aspect of ancient Indian civilisation as a unique cultural endeavour which at the same time overlaps with other literatures and religions.
  5. develop skills based on closely focussing on their chosen special subject and attain levels of articulacy and coherence in class discussion appropriate to the level of study.
