SummaryThis course will outline the principles of radiology as applied to orthodontics; the radiographic techniques used (including computerised tomography); the interpretation of radiographs; the principles of radiation protection; and the use of clinical photography.
Course description The proper use and interpretation of radiographs and other forms of dental imaging will be covered. Plain and 3-D radiography will be covered. The IRMER regulations for radiological protection and the legal requirements of practitioners using radiology will be covered.

  1. Understand the physics of radiology as applied to orthodontics
  2. Know the type of radiographs used in orthodontic practice (including computerised tomography)
  3. Be able to interpret clinical radiographs
  4. Be cognisant with the regulations regarding radiation protection
  5. Be proficient at taking clinical photographs
