SummaryUpon completion of this individually negotiated work based module, participants will be required to demonstrate that they are able to:

* engage in critical discussion of the nature of a
particular aspect of their own professional actions with
explicit reference to professional
understanding, professional values and to the relationship
between enquiry, relevant theory, research and
professional practice.
* analyse and evaluate the impact of an intitiative, in
which they have played a significant part.
* review critically this professional experience, including
consideration of influence on own and others' professional
understanding and of impact on learners and learning.

Additional Information (Assessment) The assessment task should consist of 4000-5000 words (excluding the portfolio of evidence).

The assessment task must include a review of the literature covering the aspect of work-based learning being undertaken (1500 words), and a full critical and analytical commentary on the aims, rationale, methodology, findings and implications of the work-based learning (2500-3500 words) plus a portfolio of evidence of the impact of the project. The outcomes of the work-based learning must either be made available in a report to staff in the participant's own school/service or in an oral presentation at a staff development session within the participant's school, service or authority.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:
  1. Candidates will compose own learning outcomes which are required to demonstrate the candidates knowledge and understanding of: 1. theoretical base for the teaching/learning approach used
  2. relevant research on same/similar area
  3. implications for, and applications to, practice
  4. critical analysis and evaluation of approach used, in relation to its impact on a. learners and b. learning.
  5. 5. analysis and reflective evaluation of learning made by candidate as a result of the work carried out for the claim and of the leadership role undertaken .
